Clean Boot your PC

Enable only Microsoft published applications to run at boot interval. Disable all third-party programs as follows:

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8:

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
  2. Click Task Manager.
  3. Click More Details icon at bottom.
  4. Click Startup tab.
  5. Disable all startup applications. To do so, right-click > Disable option.
  6. Exit out of the screen.

For Windows 7/ Vista:

  1. Press Windows Key + R; type “MSCONFIG”
  2. Click OK or press ENTER.
  3. Click Startup tab and uncheck all Non-Microsoft program boxes.
  4. Click Apply, and then OK.

Stop Windows Error Reporting Service

This service reportedly conflicts with Windows and results in WerMgr.exe error. Disabling it might be helpful.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Press Windows Key + R, type “Services.msc”
  2. Press ENTER.
  3. Right-click “Windows Error Reporting Service”, select Properties from context menu options.
  4. In the new dialog, set Startup Type: Disabled
  5. Click Stop, and then OK.

Restore System State

WerMgr.exe or WerFault.exe application error in Windows 10 occurs due to misconfigurations in your Registry. Restoring the computer back to an earlier point in time may help.

For Windows 10:

  1. Right-click “This PC” desktop icon, select Properties.
  2. Click “Advanced system settings” link.

Exempt WerFault.exe File from DEP Feature

It may be possible that WeFault.exe file is getting blocked. Exempt it from Data Execution Prevention feature.

For Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista:

  1. Press Windows Key + R; type “sysdm.cpl” and click OK.
  2. Click Advanced tab | Settings (Performance).
  3. Click Data Execution Prevention tab.
  4. Select an option labeled “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select”.
  5. Click Add; navigate to the following file:
    • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WerFault.exe
  6. Click Apply, and then OK.
