Three Important Ways to fix ‘DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN’ Error in Windows 10 December 1, 2015October 23, 2018 Vikas Windows Are you using Google Chrome? You’re perhaps then aware of this connection error: “DNS_PROBE_FINSHED_NXDOMAIN”. Chrome gives this error relatively more than the other browsers. Why? Because the Chrome DNS lookup fails when you try to access any webpage. But we’ve found the most reliable ways to fix this error. DNS Error? Download Windows Cleaner ST Cleaner (w/ Verisign Digital Certificate). Compatible w/ Windows 10/ 8.1/ 8/ 7/ Vista/ XP. An important note: There’s no particular solution available for this error. So we recommend you to move to another solution if one (or two) fails. Fix 1 – Manually Assign DNS Server This one is the most effective, yet reliable solution available. In the case of DNS not working, you need to change their DNS server to a reliable one such as Googles DNS. Want to know how? Follow these steps: Open Network and Sharing Center by searching it on Search the web and Windows section (bottom left of the screen. Right-click the text next to Connections. Go on Properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and go to ‘Properties.’ Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter these numbers 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.4.4 (as seen in the screenshot). Check Validate settings upon exit and press OK. Your DNS server address should now have changed. Fix 2 – Flushing the DNS This fix requires using the Command Prompt. Here’s how: Open the command prompt by pressing Windows + X and selecting Command Prompt (Admin). And now enter the command netsh winsock reset catalog. Press Enter. Restart your PC to complete the reset. Fix 3 – Hard Restart the Router This one is simplest. Follow these steps: Turn off your router. Unplug it (from the power source). Wait for 15-20 seconds. Turn it on again. This will reset your DNS and assign you a new one (if there’s any). Issue resolved!
