It inculcates a rich array of features in order to make it more flexible according to the needs of almost every other user. Even though Windows has been refined to a greater extent courtesy the Windows Updates that help fix any bugs that arise, there is a likelihood that some issues might still creep up in the future. This article intends to cover any issues related to network connectivity in Windows 10, and how to solve them efficiently in an easy manner. Solutions Solution 1: Install The Latest Ethernet Driver/ Modem Driver Phase 1: Identifying the Device The driver should be the latest one at all times in order to make the best use of your device. The following steps show how to install the latest driver for the device which is used to connect to the Internet. Connect either the router (with Ethernet port) or the 3G (HSPA)/4G modem with the computer, and turn it on. Open the start menu, search for Device Manager, and open it from the Search Results. Search for Device Manager If you are using a router, then type the following command in Command Prompt to find out the motherboard’s model/name as this information is necessary to download the driver for the Ethernet port which usually comes on the motherboard: wmic baseboard get product,Manufacturer, version, serialnumber If the device is a modem such as 3G/4G, then locate the Modems item from the list instead of the Network adapters. Now expand the node. If it’s a router, Ethernet port’s driver would be installed as it’s used to connect the router to the computer. If it’s a modem, the modem’s driver should be installed. Either way, both devices connect the computer to the Internet. Phase 2: Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website Search the device’s name & model on Google. Search on Google Locate the Support & Downloads section. Select the operating system. Selecting the Operating System In the following screenshot, you will come across multiple server locations. Select the one nearest to your location for faster downloading. Choose the Download Mirror Download the setup and then execute the downloaded file to install the driver. Solution 2: Check The Firewall /Proxy /VPN Firewall, Proxy, VPN can easily cause network connectivity issues, and therefore you need to always make sure they are functioning properly. Turn them off one after another, and check the network connectivity. If one of them isn’t functioning properly, contact the Proxy/VPN/Firewall company to sort out the issue. Method 1: Try without the proxy Click the start button. Search for Change proxy settings. Open it from the Search Results. Now scroll down until you come across Manual proxy setup. Disable it altogether or if there is a working proxy use it instead. Disable Manual proxy setup Method 2: Try without the VPN Find the computer icon in the notification area which is located at the far right on the taskbar. Right-click it and select Open Network and Sharing Center. Select Open Network and Sharing Center from the context menu Click Change adapter settings, which will be located on the right-most sidebar. Locate the VPN and delete it. Once it’s deleted, Windows will automatically use the regular Internet connection instead of the VPN tunnel. Delete the VPN connection Method 3: Try without the firewall Open the start menu. Search for Windows Firewall with Advanced Security, and open it. Move the cursor to the right side panel, and then locate Properties. Click to open it. In the Domain Profile tab, locate Firewall state and disable it from the drop-down box next to it. Turn off the Firewall Even though Windows will be vulnerable to any attacks once the Firewall has been disabled, you need to do so just to diagnose the actual problem behind the network connectivity issue.
