Gone are those days when we had to rush to the computer market to get a simple document printed. Now, most of us have printers at our homes with which we can easily print as many documents, images as we like.

Optimize Windows 10

Set Plain Paper Type

A certain menu in the Print dialog box helps you set various attributes for the print. Select Plain Paper for optimum print quality.

  1. Open the Print dialog box.
  2. Select your printer.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Set the Media Type to Plain Paper.

 

Set Printer Defaults

Default printer values like colors, paper size, intensity, orientation, layout, margins, duplex etc can be set by following this procedure.

  1. Repeat steps # 1-3 from the Set Plain Paper Type section.
  2. Under Quick Setup, Main and Page Setup, click Default.
  3. Click OK.

 

Connect the Printer to a High-Speed USB Port

USB Ports are classified based on their capacity to handle large volumes of data in the given period of time. USB 3.0 can handle data up to 60 Mbps. Use a High-Speed USB Port to connect your printer to the computer to augment its performance.

 

Disable Antivirus

The Real-Time Scan feature of your Antivirus might be eating up a whole lot of resources while it is active in the background, and that as a consequence, would be affecting your printer’s performance. It should be paused until you’ve completed the print job.

  1. Right-click the Antivirus icon on the far-right corner of the Taskbar.
  2. Select Pause Protection.

 

Convert PDF Files to .docx format

A Portable Document Format (PDF) takes much longer to process and print when compared to Microsoft Office Word Document (.docs and .doc) formats. So you can easily shorten the time it takes for the document to be actually printed by saving it in any of the Microsoft Office Word Document formats.

 

Lower the Print Quality

Lower quality printouts take much quicker to be processed and can be read quite easily. Configure your printer to print to a lower / lowest standard (whichever suits you) to boost up the printing process.
