Samsung Cloud Guide: Backup, Sync & Access Your Data November 25, 2020December 20, 2024 M Saleh Cloud Samsung Cloud was introduced by Samsung back in 2016. At that time, Galaxy Note 7 had witnessed its launch and the switching process from an old device to a new one became easy. However, Samsung has now announced that it will discontinue the Gallery Sync and Drive Storage for My Files. As a result, users will not have to use OneDrive. Until then, users want to make the most of it and it is only right that we discuss how to use the Samsung cloud app. Let’s begin. What is the Samsung Cloud? Upon purchasing a new Samsung device, you are offered 15GB of free Samsung Cloud storage. However, users who are purchasing through Verizon deals are excluded. Similar to Google Drive and other cloud-based platforms, Samsung allows its users to store their data on Samsung Cloud. Apps such as Calendar and Contacts do not count against this storage quota limit. How to save data on Samsung Cloud? To save data on Samsung Cloud, visit the ‘Device Settings’ and enter the ‘Cloud and Accounts’ settings. Then, select ‘Samsung Cloud’ and begin managing your data. Samsung Cloud allows its users to backup, restore, and sync data across multiple devices. However, transferring data to external devices is not allowed. Another key feature to note is that Samsung Cloud can be excessed from your browser as well. But if you want to upload data, it can only be done through your cell phone device or tablet. How to access your Samsung Cloud? To access your data, visit the ‘Settings’ section of your phone and click on the ‘Cloud and accounts’. Then select, ‘Samsung Cloud’. Now, tap the three dots located in the top-right corner and select ‘Settings’. Then tap ‘Sync and auto-backup setting’. Under the sync tab, locate the toggle switch and turn it on. Select the type of data you wish to auto-sync. If you wish to check the available storage, tap your name at the top. Should I Use Samsung Cloud? Until Samsung discontinues the service, it charges $0.99 per month for 50GB of extra storage. Whereas, if you want to get your hands on 200GB storage, you will need to pay $2.99 per month. Furthermore, Samsung does not provide any discounts on annual subscriptions. As compared to Google Drive and iDrive Personal and considering Samsung’s top of the line smartphone the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which features 1TB internal storage and is able to incorporate another 1TB of data through a microSD card, it makes sense to use the Samsung Cloud to securely store your data. Overall, the Samsung Cloud is a pretty useful cloud storage platform for Samsung users. It is easy to use and allows the users to quickly switch between Samsung devices. Lastly, it is a dedicated platform as well that ensures ultimate privacy and security of Samsung users’ data.
