Duplicate x_t files in System

Although this might be your first time coming across X_T files, they are pretty common in the CAD world. Files that come with an X_T extension are Parasolid Model Part files. These files also go by the name ‘Modeller Transmit Files’. Since these files are used by CAD programs, most of them can be imported and exported to the X_T format. And because designers tend to make regular changes to the designs using CAD programs, the creation of duplicate files is imminent. So let’s take a closer look at X_T files and find out how to deal with the duplicates.

How to Open an X_T file?

X_T files are basically files that are based on text. Moreover, these files consist of numbers that allow the CAD programs to identify or read the color, geometry, and detail of the 3D models. When it comes to opening X_T files, there aren’t a lot of options available out there. Therefore, you will need to use the ParaSolid software powered by Siemens. The good news is that it works on Windows, Linux, as well as Mac. There are some other CAD programs as well that can open these files such as VectorWorks but to avoid certain limitations, it is suggested that Siemens PLM software is used. 

Additionally, X_T files can also be opened using Window’s Notepad, but it will only give you a preview of the header data. Only the ParaSolid program will enable you to open the file properly.  

What Can’t I Open the File?

To open X_T files, you are only going to need the above-mentioned programs. However, if you are still not able to open the files, it might be that you have misread the files. For instance, one might confuse or misread an X_T file as .XPT extension, which is used by Mozilla Firefox. Therefore, to ensure that it is an X_T file, visit the details section of the file and check to see whether it can be opened by the previously mentioned programs.

How Can I Delete Duplicate Files?
