Disable Windows 10 App Notifications

Windows 10, as well as several apps, pop up a lot of notifications every now and then. Had enough of those annoying notifications? There’s a nifty feature that can save you from having to deal with random notifications while you’re in the midst of something important. It’s a matter of just a few clicks. The first thing you should do is to scan for junk in Windows 10. Use ST Cleaner for this purpose.

Using the Settings

The Settings page in Windows 10 has been given a new look altogether. It provides easy and quick access to System Settings as well as Control Panel items. And of course, it helps disable those annoying pop-up notifications.

1. Click the Start icon, and then select Settings.

   

2. Click the System icon.

   

3. Click the Notifications & actions tab on the left panel.
   
4. Below we have given detailed descriptions of each item. Move the slider to the left for disabling a notification (and vice versa).
   • Show me tips about Windows: Shows small, yet obscure tips & tricks designed to save your time.
   • Show app notifications: Shows notifications for different Microsoft and Non-Microsoft apps installed on your machine. When turned off, you cannot manage notifications for individual apps.
   • Show notifications on the lock screen: The Lock Screen is not just merely a background, rather it’s a set of different widgets and app notifications that are displayed on a Windows laptop, desktop or tablet.
   • Show alarms, reminders and incoming VOIP calls on the lock screen: Without even unlocking your PC, the lock screen shows alarms, reminders and the telephone calls made through the Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP).
   • Hide notifications while presenting: This nifty feature inWindows 10 turns off all notifications while you’re presenting through PowerPoint presentations or using a Projector.
5. Let’s disable notifications, banners and sounds for individual apps such as Alarms & Clock, Free Download Manager, Java Update Checker, Microsoft OneDrive, Opera, Optional Features, Windows Explorer, Windows Feedback, WordWeb etc.

Important: If sliders of all individual apps are greyed out, this indicates the Show all notifications feature is already turned off. Turn on this feature if you want to customize individual app preferences.

Using Registry Editor

You can disable all push notifications using a string named ToastEnabled. The steps are given below:

1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Run.

   

2. Type RegEdit and click OK.
3. Locate the following subkey:
   • HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | Microsoft | Windows | CurrentVersion | PushNotifications

   

4. Double click the ToastEnabled string and replace its value with 0.
5. Exit out of the screen.

We’re all set, folks. From now onwards, you’ll no longer need to deal with those annoying pop-up notifications.
