CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED BSOD Error on Windows 10

Critical system processes,as the name suggests, must be kept running without any hindrances for your system to function properly. There are numerous processes that are considered critical in nature.

Boot into Safe Mode

Safe Mode option starts your computer into a limited state where only the most basic Windows services needed to run a computer system are loaded. This means that your computer will be starting while having disabled all Non-Microsoft services.

  1. Type MSCONFIG in the Search Box on your Taskbar and press Enter.
  2. Check the Safe boot checkbox and also choose the Minimal option.
  3. Apply the changes by clicking Apply | OK.
  4. Restart your computer.

 

Use Advanced Startup Options

Advanced Startup Options screen is displayed during Windows Setup. Use a recovery utility that fixes problems related to CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED BSOD Error on Windows 10.

  1. Insert Windows operating system install disc.
  2. Reboot your computer.
  3. Start tapping the F2 key repeatedly from the flash screen.
  4. Set the First Boot Device as your DVD/ CD ROM and Second Boot Device as your Hard Disk.
  5. Save the changes and then exit.
  6. When you’re prompted to boot from DVD/ CD, press any key to do so.
  7. Select a language, and click Next.
  8. Click Repair your computer link on the bottom left.
  9. Now you’ll see several options on your screen. Select Startup Repair.
  10. The setup wizard will initiate the process to repair the problems. After successful completion of the repair operation, you’ll get a detailed log on your screen. Click Close | Finish.

 

Check Driver Updates

You can have the Device Driver download updates for the hardware components of your computer. This might help mitigate the error after all the drivers have been successfully updated.

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Device Manager.
  2. Expand the nodes containing the device whose driver has to be updated.
  3. Right-click the device and choose Properties.
  4. Click Driver tab, and then the Update Driver button.

 

Repair Windows Image

Use the System Update Readiness Tool to fix corrupted Windows Image. Execute the following command:

  1. In the Search Box on Taskbar, type CMD.
  2. Right-click it from Search Results and choose the Run as administrator option.
  3. Execute following commands:
    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • Exit
  4. Restart the system.
