Windows Update KB2919355 Error Code 0x800F0923

Some users have reported experiencing the 0x800F0923 error during or after installing Windows Update KB2919355, which comes with several new features.

 

Uninstall KB2919355

Check whether KB2919355 install entry is found in the updates history page. If it is found, uninstall it.

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Control Panel.
  2. Click Programs.
  3. Click View installed updates.
  4. Now you are seeing a long list of all installed updates. In the Search Box in the top right corner, type 2919355.
  5. When you see Windows Update KB2919355 in the Search Results, right-click it and choose Uninstall.
  6. After successful completion, reboot your system.

 

Disable Incompatible SPTD Driver

0x800F0923 error occurs due to a faulty driver SPTD. Use the Registry Editor to disable the faulty/ incompatible SPTD driver.

  1. Press Windows Key + X; choose Run.
  2. Type RegEdit, click OK.
  3. Locate the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sptd
  4. Double-click Start string; replace its value with 4.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Exit the Registry Editor and reboot your system.

 

Uninstall SPTD Driver

If disabling the faulty SPTD driver didn’t help, uninstall it using its setup program. Follow the instructions given below:

  1. Download the SPTD Driver Setup from its official website:
  2. Since the driver is already installed, setup will detect it and show the Uninstall button; click it.
  3. After it is uninstalled, reboot your computer.

Load minimal set of drivers to eliminate conflicts with other software. Clean Boot, a software that quits any conflicting features, loads a predefined set of drivers required for the smooth functioning of Windows.

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type MsConfig and click OK.
  3. Click the Boot tab.
  4. Select the Safe Boot option.
  5. Select Minimal option.
  6. Click Apply | OK.
